CRAFT PROJECT

Maukami understands the important role of handicrafts as a solution to sustainable living. Indonesia has an abundance of source materials that are locally accessible. Currently, local crafters offer low quality products with a short life span, looking to maximise short term profit.

Maukami worked closely with crafters, offering mentorship in creativity and business on individual levels, raising the standard of their production and opening new market possibilities.

Some of local Balinese crafters who received mentorship are Bli Kuat, a traditional kisa crafter, the crafters of Pengotan Village who specialize in basket handicrafts, and the crafters of Sente Village who specialise in handicrafts made of banana tree trunks.
